People often find exactly what they're looking for.

Very true. But people also turn on their blinders when they have plunked down money on a house. They get very myopic and just see what they want to see.

Sorta like people in Manhattan who brag how great their block is. All that means is that the homeless shelter is on the next block and the bums haven't made it down to their building yet to urinate in the doorway.

Absolutely, that's why this entire site is just plain stupid.
People proclaim one area to be "Better" than another and the sheeple listen.
I think Crooks owns land in Sound Beach the way he promotes that place.

No, I think Crooks lives in Rocky Point. He has already told me it is the Center of the Universe and the original location of the Garden of Eden.

The good news is you can buy a home in Mastic Beach for $81,000

The bad news? Well, you can buy a home for $81,000....

shelleyava, you seem to have the right attitude for the area. The Mastic area is a series of neighborhoods, some better than others, laced with hidden gems located at the end of dead end streets, on riverlets or estuaries, backing to public or parkland, on water, view of water, etc.

If you are street savvy, take reasonable precautions, are willing to travel to find friends, social activities, etc. the area may not offer, and do not need to have your home double in value any time soon you can make a nice life.

As the last poster pointed out, blinders. RP is definitely no garden of eden. Many refer to it as Mastic Beach north.

Absolutely. First you will need to lay down triple strand concertina wire which means pounding in pickets for approx. 72 hours to fortify your defense. Outline your sectors of fire and proceed to dig foxholes in a lazy W formation so that you have overlapping fields of fire. Most important, lay down your claymores along the perimeters with your tripwires concealed with surrounding foilage at the rear of your position, never the front. Now your Mastic Beach estate should be secure. Enjoy.

*note*
The above was sarcasm, never attempt this at home

Look at what $150,000 can buy you. In many parts of LI, double that will get you nothing, well in Mastic Beach that $150,000 will get you these two homes, which are listed on MLSLI for $75,000 each.

Let me guess...the taglines in the property description probabally include one or more of the following...
"calling Handy Andy"
"mega-potential"
"Needs TLC"
"Handyman/contractors special"
"Restorers dream"
