Swine Flu is highly virulent and is easily passed from person to person. If our border with Mexico were not so porous, we would have less to worry about. The deaths in Mexico can be directly attributed to poor medical care in their socialized healthcare system. Remember that when you support OBAMA.

Mexico does not have full on "socialized" medicine, their system is similar to our current one.

On the other hand, the UK and France, with full on socialized medicine, have been deemed the best prepared for this situation, with vaccines and treatments already stockpiled.

There is no effective vaccine for the Swine Flu. Swine Flu is a genetic homologation of at least 4 separate flu viruses that mutates between outbreaks. Mexico's health care system is socialized. It is also a disaster. They don't call it socialized, however it is controlled by the government. Citizens of France and England (Canada as well) are not that happy with their health care systems.

None of this is documented and has not been demonstrated. Please look at the CDC website and the website for the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

I'm sorry, but Mexico does not have a socialized system and it is not 100% controlled by the Government. They are working towards it with a goal of (I believe) 2011.

Vaccine and Tamiflu will not eliminate Swine Flu, but can reduce symptoms from the strains they are developed to treat against, which can be part of the swine flu, reducing symptoms.

I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and must disagree with your final statement.

Regardless, the best way to reduce this flu is to simply wash your hands.

Again, you are not correct. None of this information relating to the new influenza strain has been demonstrated.

The health care systems in Canada, the UK and France are, indeed, government based, but there is also the option of seeking private medical care.

That is incorrect.

Private doctors are legal as long as they do not accept payment through the Government healthcare plan. So you have to accept strictly private payment, or strictly Government payment.

I agree... Govt controlled healthcare does not mean its better, I mean emergency care is one thing.... if someone is dying then I'm sure most developed nations (govt controlled or not) make sure that they try to get the best available care to save lives.... but the real test is when you have to get your day to day tests and things like that. If you tell me that health care is free (like in Canada etc) but I have to wait for 2 months to see a lung specialist or something, maybe I'll be ready to buy a secondary insurance that will get me a doc to see me next week.... and I was on another forum where people were discussing how a lot of Canadians were coming to the US or even travelling to Asia to get the medical care when it comes to a surgery etc. So I wouldn't say Canadians are very happy with their system either.

Although I do agree, in cases of pandemics it might be better to mobilize resources and supplies and avoid chaos and uncertainty if its govt controlled.
