"Not only have they lost in the arena of science, anti-vaxxers never really understood science nor the scientific method to begin with and as such try to shut down rebuttal by accusing their opponents of being "Pharma Shills". The Pharma Shill Gambit (coined by Orac many years ago) is an ad hominem tactic used by anti-vaxxers to avoid refuting their opponents' evidence."
Whoa! Now you are putting words in my mouth (or you read wrong) I never said CD was the ones paying you directly.
I was referring to your comment on my not being an average poster. "Way to(o) prepared" suggests you think I am an above average poster. Maybe I'll get another check from CD for my efforts here. Getting the first one was fun!
I don't live in a bubble. I have an immune system. Stop worrying so much!
Me too, but It's not all about me, or you; I know those five babies in Chicago don't have much of an immune system at all. I also know the odds are that at least some of them have siblings who are also unlikely to have been vaccinated and they may very well be in play groups or schools with other children. So how many of these unvaccinated kids will have measles before the week is out? And how many kids that they shared snot with in the ball pit at McDonalds or Chuck E Cheese last weekend?
In a community where people accept responsibility for contributing to the health of all, none of this would be a problem. But in a community where the fear mongers don't look into just how remote a chance there is to contract any of what may be side effects but instead would cut and paste legally required contraindications and bold what they view as the scariest parts, the uneducated and intentionally misinformed make bad choices further spreading potentially deadly diseases.
What's really scary though, are those chicks embryos that you display as such a peril to public health. With just a poorly timed visit by a rooster, I'd have a dozen in my refrigerator right now. The horror!
This thread is like an awful car wreck that you really don't want to look at, but can't help it!
I'm wondering if the anti-vaccine people also deny climate change? Is that a different crowd?
Even more intriguing, do climate change nuts and vaccine nuts think that they're both on opposite ends or respective conspiracy theories?!
There's crossover.
