Three Village Schools (house, school district, codes)

I am so glad that I am moving upstate after spending the last year in Setauket. Came home to help Mom downsize and try to sell her house - its on the market - so she can move into a life care community. Put my third grader into Setauket Elementary. I went to kindergarten there many years ago. Boy, that school has changed for the worst. It is really over crowded - 900plus kids and the building is really run down. A kid in my son's class brought a pocket knife into class and was flashing it - the school didn't do much and didn't really care. There is alot of bullying which is swept under the table and the school also doesn't really deal with. His teacher doesn't care if the third graders she teaches sees her belly ring and tattoos. I don't care what she does at home but cover up in the classroom! I know there are good teachers there so I don't mean to disrespect the entire place. But the school really seems to think that because it is the THREE VILLAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT that it can ignore bullying, not enforce dress codes for the teachers ( the students have one ), and stuff and old overcrowed school with kids. I guess it isn't always true that you get what you pay for!
