About the late-night loud parties we would call the cops with a noise complaint every single time it happens. IIRC the "legal cutoff time" is supposedly 11 pm but I would say most people would let it go till midnight especially if it was a Friday or Saturday night.

The daytime music and bass-tape thing probably doesn't have a legal recourse though. I think that neighbors can complain legally about a constantly barking dog even during daylight hours but I honestly don't know if it's the same for loud daytime music.

Of course with any police complaint you need to factor in how apprehensive you are (if at all) about retaliation if the noisemakers either suspect or know that it's your household calling the cops -- and what form any retaliation might take. That's a factor that only you can decide how much weight to assign to....

I can hear traffic often (but not always) and I'm a quarter-mile from two busy county roads and a half-mile to a busy town road and Sunrise Highway. Plus, I hear ambulances more often since two of those roads are common routes to Brookhaven Hospital.
