Smile Middle Country School District

We are looking at purchasing a home in Centereach and are looking for information about the Middle Country School district.

We have an 8 yr old (2nd grade) and an 11 yr old (5th grade)
Our 11 yr old gets speech services currently in another school district

If anyone has any information good or bad it would be greatly apprecicated.

Thank you

The school district is definitely a decent one. What street is the house on if I may ask? I can give you better feedback on the area.In general it's a decent working class town.

There are some much better school districts surrounding that area. But for Long Island, it's ok.

It is a fine school district. I grew up in the area and graduated from the district in the early 2000s. All my teachers were very good and truly cared about their students. There were a bunch of clubs, sports teams and a wide variety of classes available in HS. I don't know much about the speech services though.

Middle country is also home to the Middle Country Public Library, which is one of the best libraries in the country. They have a ton of programs for kids and many books, videos and other resources.

Middle Country is in the lower rung of School Districts in Suffolk County when you look at test scores and students moving on to College. Your child can do fine there if they stay focused as there is a good education to be had, but they will not be surrounded by as many kids who are truly striving to succeed as they might in higher ranked districts in the area. So, in comparison to an inner city school, it's way better, but relative to other schools in the area, it's not highly regarded.

Great way to put it.

Sorry about your friends. You really have to be crazy to ride a motorcycle on LI. I'd seriously consider one if I lived up in New Hampshire or something, but not with this kind of traffic.
