Better safe than sorry! It will never hurt to lay low and enjoy things that don't involve crowds until this subsides, but it can hurt to get the flu! This won't last forever and we'll soon feel safe living our normal lives again, so why look for trouble?
we're staying put here for a while, see how things go. i am in no hurry to get the pig flu nor the regular flu. got some of those hands gels and yes we wash a lot, but it can only protect you so much. airborne is what scares me. so you're not alone in this.
I think the panic is ridiculous - I could see it maybe 2 weeks ago, when it was unknown what was going to happen with this and how it would mutate. But less than 1,000 cases worldwide, when the regular flu kills 10s of thousands every year, and most people can't be bothered to get a flu shot....people are acting silly. I'd be more concerned about the regular flu which killed several kids here on LI this winter.
Hi. Am I being too paranoid? I have been regularly taking my babies to Orlys and other play areas like in the malls, outdoor playgrounds, etc. Wanted to also take them to LI Children's Museum and other places but have been holding off. Since the swine flu scare, I have not taken her out say for the occasional outings with me while I do errands. Anyone else keeping their kids at home, and unsure about where it is safe to take them or if it safe to take them to their regular play places? Eventually I will take her once again to her favorite places and to new places, but when and is it wise to do it yet? I myself and being weary of going anywhere myself, like out on weekends with friends to the city, etc, because I know that if I contract this, my children can get it from me. Confused about this whole scare. My fear is that they will get this.
There is nothing wrong with taking precautions, but do not worry yourself too much about it! I am just washing my hands frequently and trying to stay away from people who appear sick. I also keep a box of Kleenex Anti-Viral at my desk since it kills cold and flu bugs in the tissue. Hope you are feeling more at ease and are not changing your lifestyle too much.
