Thanks for this awesome map

Clearly shows that Montgomery is in No. Babylon no matter where, but Amsterdam is primarily W. Babylon SD, except once you cross over Belmont, there is only a short distance in W. Babylon SD till it turns into No. Babylon SD.

There's often no rhyme or reason for School District borderlines and they don't always reflect the hamlet/village you're in. When I lived in Babylon, I lived in the Village, paid Village taxes, yet my School District was W. Babylon .

yeah - very helpful map.

it matches what that guy told me - looks like the borderline is literaly in his yard, probably 25ft from the property we're looking at.

more i think about it, the less i care.

i like the area, and what i'm reading about NB schools s that they're FINE.

plus my children wouldn't be in the HS for another 10 yrs or more.

seems nice.

but something confused me:
i saw a man working in his yard, and i stopped and asked a few questions about the area. His property would abut the one we're looking at. He said he is in WEST BABYLON school district, and that the dividing line is in his yard. House we're looking at is listed as NORTH BABYLON schools. I checked the census site, and it confirms this. ( i didn't double check his house )

Confusing part is that both houses are east of Little Neck Road, acutally both are east of Belmont Ave. How would his house be in WEST BABYLON sd??

Some people that go to North Babylon Schools are considered West Babylon because of the post offices. The post offices determine what town is what.

You think long ago they would have made Carlls River the boundary between West Babylon and North Babylon --- but that would have been too logical!

North Babylon looks pretty nice to me, and there is a really nice section not far off Phelps Lane. I like the area between Sunrise and the Southern State, it looks more rustic like a small town. North of the Southern State, Deer Park Avenue greatly widens and it is surrounded by shopping centers on both sides. If you like suburban convienance this is pretty decent.

Anyhow if look at some of the older posts mentioning North Babylon and even West Babylon --- some people trash it. Some people see a few people from a different ethnic group and then they trash a whole neighborhood.
