Northern & SSParkways cannot have ENOUGH speedtraps. There are more than enough body parts scattered on the medians of both roads on a weekly basis.

I disagree. I think that NYS should have a program like Japan. You should only be allowed to go so fast if you have a certain license. People with a "B" license would have no place in the left lane. People with an "A" license would allowed to go as fast as they see fit. I shouldn't be trapped behind grandma in the left lane because she's not comfortable going faster. On a side note why is it that EVERYDAY some truck driving clown buries his truck under an overpass on the SSP or NS??? These people should have to drop pants and be paddled by the people stuck in traffic as they pass.

Let me guess, you're about 24?
No one should be doing 80MPH on the Southern State..it is not only dangerous to you but everyone else on the road. Winding roads, narrow lanes, and blind curbs = danger. The LIE should have the speed limit raised from 55 to 60-70 depending on the stretch. East of exit 63, there's no reason for a 55MPH speed limit. The spreed limit on many interstates upstate is 65.
I also think that way too many people on LI camp out in the left lane and they should start ticketing people who fail to yield, but 20 something d-bags with big spoilers on the WRX weaving in and out of traffic are a far bigger danger to the rest of us than people who drive slow in the left lane.

That right there is the problem....not people driving fast (within reason), it's the people the drive fast and weave in and out of the lanes. I admit that I will get in the left lane and then just cruise at 70mph, but I am not doing 3 wide passes to the right lane to get back into that left lane, I just stay there.

I don't think in many areas of the LIE, 70MPH is a dangerous speed. It is when you have cars on top of each other and no one is getting any space that it becomes dangerous.
The SSP is a different story, because there are many spots where you have no idea what's coming around the corner, and doing 70-75MPH there is no way you are stopping in time if theres and accident, a cop half in the road, debris, etc.
I actually observed some 20 something d-bag in an Acura go FOUR lanes wide yesterday. He was in the HOV (non-hov time)..and went all the way over to the far right lane..then back to the HOV lane (illegally crossing the divider) to pass someone he didn't think was driving fast enough.
See my post about the guido kid who robbed a 72 year old of $2 in Farmingville...we have an abundance of stupid knuckle dragging wannabe hot shots on LI.
