Default Lynbrook (Charing Cross) so many houses for sale? WHY?

Does anyone know why there are so many houses on that particular block of Lynbrook for sale (Charing Cross, Northumberland Gate, Westminster Rd.)?

It is a beautiful area, but it's zoned Valley Stream schools - maybe that is part of it?

There's nothing wrong with VS District 24. Of all the districts that serve Lynbrook, VS District 24's ranking is only second to that of Lynbrook 20 itself. The other districts serving Lynbrook are lower ranked that VS SD 24 so choosing a Lynbrook home not in SD 20, but zoned for either the Malverne or East Rockaway school district is what would be considered several steps down.

Perhaps it is a case of "monkey see, monkey do" ... people know their neighbor is selling so they want to sell too before housing prices drop more.

Myself and I Love LI But had an ideological discussion about the quality of Valley Stream schools, and he had me totally overmatched with facts.

However, negative perceptions of VS Schools---whether they are accurate or not--have to play into what is happening.

To the extent that I Love LI But is correct I wish him luck in battling these perceptions.

you are correct, but there is quite a stigma associated with Valley Stream nowadays and stigmas, however untrue, do affect home sales.
I do have to say that one of the high schools in VS deservedly has a bad rap. I know someone that teaches there and I have heard quite the stories. Most of the district is fine.

I'm curious. How many houses are you talking about? On MLSLI.com there were only 12 listings for Lynbrook in that school district. Is that considered a significant number?
