Looking to move back to Long Island
My hubsband and I are looking to relocate back to NY LI he is in law enforcement and will be somewhere around with my income net 6200.00 per month.
This will increase to 8200.00 net per month in about another 1 from now we have a 10 year old daughter and we are looking for a decent neighborhood with good schools to first rent for about 1.5 to 2 years and then purchase, we are comparing LI with upstate NY, but UpState would be a longer travel for the both of us.
Long Island do you have any good suggestions.
6200 monthly net
looking for a decent rental property in a nice neighborhood, with good schools. 35% of that would put our rent at 2170.00
any comments would appreciate it thanks
we are open to Nassau or Suffolk, we are most interested in good neigh. and good schools

Motzohpizza is something of an aquired taste.
Id avoid the culture shock and go with Babylon Village.

Hauppauge. I rent there now and have no issues. I know the schools are good here too. We rent a 1 bedroom for 1300 and pay utilities.

Our family lives there KGuido and its as sterotypical LI as it gets.
If I was bringing anyone from out of state to LI, Massapequa would probably be my last stop.
Sorry KGuido, dont get me wrong ...its beautiful on the water where they live and the schools there are excellent, but its really become a caricature of itself.
IMHO its the LI equivalent of Bay Ridge(which BTW aint cheap either).
I just prefer Babylon Village.
Just one mans opinion.

Kenny Guido appears to have a pro-Massapequa bias rivaling your Rocky Point bias....surprising that his last name is Guido. "eh Amy, ova he!!"
Seriously, I find the excessive Italian-ness of Massapequa to be a bit over the top also.

No doubt.
Theres nothing wrong with Motzohpizza
I respect his passion but like I said...its an aquired taste.
Rocky Point isnt for everybody either.
For SW LI...I tip a hat to Babylon Village.
That to me is the jewel of the area.

how does one quantify "Italian-ness" of a particular area? Number of pizza places?
Ridiculous....
