Farmingville Home Insurance
I'm buying a house at Farmingville.....What home insurance company has the better deals....I just got my first quote from GEICO for $2,100...I had my car insurance at GEICO....I was expecting around $1,100 to $1,400...The house is a ranch (1600 SQF) with Swimming pool.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Try Liberty Mutual. Depending on where you work and/or went to college you may qualify for an associated-company discount. Also ask them for an auto quote because the multi-policy discount would apply to both your auto and homeowners if with the same company.
$2100 sounds high for 1600 sf even including an inground pool. My nephew is paying $2800 from Liberty for a 3200 sf house with an inground pool... double the square footage of yours.
What deductible were you quoted? You can lower any premium quite a bit by raising your deductible.

$2100 does sound high. Shop around - Liberty, State Farm and Allstate are all good. I've worked in P&C insurance for almost 20 years and GEICO stinks. I would never want to have a claim with them. Put your cars with whomever you get your HO from and get a multi-line discount. Also gives you more leverage if you have a disagreement over a claim ("I've got all my insurance with you...yada, yada" - especially if you go with SF or Allstate where you can build a rapport with your agent).

Wow, that seems awfully high. Farmingville is in the middle of the island, right? I don't see why it should be that high if it isn't that close to the water. We're closing on a house in Levittown this week. We're going through Interboro insurance and only paying $866 a year.

Just an update...I start shopping for the insurance and call 4 different agents to get quotes under similar conditions ($1,000 deductible) for the same house...
1st Agent - GEICO @ $2,100.00
2nd Agent - Interboro @ $1,288.00
3rd Agent - Interboro @ $1,376.00
4th Agent - Interboro @ $986.00
Of course went with $986.00..This is crazy....Right?
My closing date is schedule for next tuesday (06/02)...I'm happy with my first home...
How is Interboro with Auto Insurance?..I'm with Geico but maybe Interboro could be a good idea to save more money...I'm paying $750 (6 months) with GEICO...
