I went 2004-2007 and never was searched and never saw anyone being searched. We sat on the central mall every year after parking a field or two away. I can't even imagine how they would set up such checkpoints. where did this happen?

If you weren't there, I think someone was pulling your leg.

How cool is that! I SOOO wish we could have seen the show.

I did take my kids to see the Thunderbirds leave this morning and it was well worth it. 6 of the planes took off and one remained. After the others left, we were allowed to walk out to the plane and talk with the remaining crew. There were also numerous other large and small propeller planes taking off. Talk about LOUD though. I forgot my earplugs and had to choose between taking pics and going deaf a lot sooner. I chose the pics.

They should Search people! from what I see coming to the beach, and dont know what they are, but they are not from Nassau or Suffolk but people who have a hate for Long island. They look at y ou and throw garbage out right on the floor in front of you! ever seen this?? Also when they are driving back from the beach they throw bags out of garbage on pkwys and whatever before they get home to Queens or Brooklyn or whatever planet theyre from. They should search and also give out tickets for littering like other states. Just stupid over here i guess...

Littering is a big problem across all of Long Island. They need to start handing tickets out for sure. But Long Islanders litter just as much as everyone else.
I'm not a big fan of Jones Beach as it gets a rough crowd anyway. Robert Moses and Fire Island are much more my pace. Jones Beach was built as place to avoid "dirty city beaches" but now it has become one.
