I'm assuming you have no kids.... if you do, then they will be going to school together with the kids all around you, maybe 5 mins walk or 5 mins drive, it does not matter..... I agree with all previous posters that have tried to warn you....

I know its ultimately you decision as you are going to decide "HOW" you want to live, but remember house purchase is not like a Walmart purchase that you can return it back to the store the next day if it broke.

According to the Census Bureau's online address search function, neither 149 nor 359 Wilson Avenue with a "Middle Island, NY 11953" mailing address exist.

Walter,,I think Steve gave you the price of the houses and not the address...($149K and $359K)...

The address of the house listed at $149K is 17 Wilson Ave...

Thanks bajaxtreme.

According to the Census Bureau, "17 Wilson Avenue, Middle Island, NY 11953" is in the CDP (= Hamlet) of Gordon Heights.

We had to go to a wedding at the church right on middle country road over by homestead (forget the name of the church) about three years ago, and there was a homeless looking woman with a shopping cart talking to herself and yelling in the middle of the road and she wouldn't let us make a left into the church. Not good over there!!!

Why don't you try Centereach or Selden? The location is GREAT (right in the middle of everything) and the people are solid, hardworking middle class. It's not the best district on the Island, but the houses are about half of what they are in other areas (such as Stonybrook and St. James).

As for this area you're inquiring about - I say LISTEN to the posters warning you! Your kids will have to mix with these people AND you have to think about selling this house once you're done with it.
