The mini split system is the way to go. 1/2 the cost of central and much more efficient.

what i wanna know, is what is the electric cost gonna be, versus having a window unit or 2?

A CAC setup would probably be more efficient than 2 window units. The CAC as soon as the house is cool will have to do very little work to keep the house at temperature. The windows units will probably be under powered for the size of the area and run constantly. Im not even sure if window units have built in thermostats these days turning them off when they reach a certain temp. Im sure some do, but due to the location close to the walls and windows and not in the center of the room im sure they dont read room temperature accurately.

Ssssshhhhhhhhhh do not give them any ideas.....
Tomorrow that dimwit for a gov will be saying.....
Any household updating to central air will be taxed according to tonnage of a/c...
Then he'll come up with taxing soda consumed while installing such systems that contain real sugar.....

They do, my WU all have them....
Honestly my uncle has a A/C comp and i prefer WU, because when the CA goes out..... Every room is hot....
Not every window unit goes out and usually you only need 3... bedrooms and main floor...
Off the top of my head i don't recall, but i like 68 degrees in summer my elec bills aren't crazy high...
The main floor is on from am to pm then off and the bedrooms are on from pm to am...

Split systems are not that much cheaper. They save a little bit if you have to add ductwork. Many people dont want to see the evaporator hanging within the living space.

The unit is actually easy on the eyes and you're not cooling areas that you're not using, like behind the walls & empty bedrooms. I had to add ductwork to my home to install central a/c and the price was $16K. The mini split system was installed for $6400.00. $9600.00 is quite the savings IMO
