I understand you can get them cheap now, considering the housing bubble has burst, etc. A lot of speculators looking to get out...

wow, your comments really add something insightful and wonderful to this topic. Have you ever raised chickens or have you ever known someone that has? Let me start off by saying there is no part of a chicken that looks like a "nugget".
On the day the ATMs, cell phones & gas stations stop working-good luck to you & yours. You'll need it.

I'd rather live next to a family with a chicken coup in their back yard than a family with spoiled brat kids and a trampoline. There's already too many of the latter on the Island. Let's have more chicken coups!

I wonder if it would be worth it. I only have one neighbor. They are nice people. I want to teach the kids about responsibility and care for something they would love.

I say go for it Giznot! Better than getting a dog or a cat, as you'll have fresh eggs for the family. It's a pet that also pitches in and provides for the family.

I can close my eyes and see those chicken running amok all over my lawn and out into the street as I CHASED THEM. If you MUST have chickens, please, please, keep them in their COOP.
