That's also a good point.

Any money the bikers spend is offset by the people who don't come or leave early because they can't deal with the infernal racket that is produced. The bikers tend to just hang out on the sidewalks, acknowledging each other when another fleet of noisemakers roars down main st.
There is a noise ordinance, and the town should make use of it...ticket every person with loud pipes who comes into town.

Then make the call, or write the letter.
Complaining about it here doesn't help anyone

It helps me. What it does for you, I'm not concerned about.

It is amazing how many people complain about things that other people like. Noisy motorcycles, large vehicles, gun ranges, music, etc. If you do not want to see or hear the motorcycles there you can always go to another town. Those people have as much of a right to be there as much as anyone else does.
For the people whom complain about every little thing; I do have a suggestion. Why do you not look into moving to some nice retirement town in Florida or some other retirement state where it is quiet all of the time and nothing can bother you?
Just for the record; in order for a law enforcement officer to issue a summons for the noise from the exhaust they have to have a decibel meter which most do not drive around with. This is the only way they can ever win the case at traffic court.

How does a gun range compare to people who ride motorcycles that are as loud as jet engines on public roads? You're making an absurd and illogical argument.
Port Jeff constables should be issued decibel meters. After about 10 tickets or so, the bikers will either get mufflers or go elsewhere. Noise IS a privacy issue...it's not like clothing or dying your hair purple. Noise cannot be ignored. I think I'll park my car in front of your house and crank the subwoofer up at 1 am..what, that bothers you? I can't understand why you can't just IGNORE IT!!

Because its not 1AM and its not a residential area. Its the middle of the day and in a public area. If it was a fleet of Lamborghini's or classic cars im sure it wouldn't be a problem for you. You look at these people as a lower class than you. Its not their bikes, its the people who are riding them. You have made that abundantly clear.
Freedom of expression. Yes, the pipes may be loud but ill take freedom any day. It really doesn't hurt anyone and its nowhere near as bad as you are making it seem. You can either get over it or find another place to hang out if you hate it so much.

If cars were revving their engines at the same volume that motorcycle guys were, I'd have the same issue. I have the same issue with coffee can exhausted Civics and booming car stereos...it has nothing to do with how I view the "class" of the people making the noise..noise pollution is just that, and shouldn't be tolerated. It's funny how biker guys always bring up the coffee can rice grinders and subwoofers. You're the same infantile bunch!!
Bikers are not oppressed, they simply make too much noise, it's simple as that. The fact that they might be fat and have a grey pony tail has nothing to do with the noise, it's just easy to poke fun at. Noise pollution is a health concern, and I can tell you that the constant noise level from bikes coming, going, stopping, starting etc is in the range of "unhealthy" in PJ. A decibel meter would prove that. Basically when a bike revs it's engine it's easily over 100 db's for everyone in a 50 sq foot area. That's loud and unhealthy, apart from being rude and completely unecessary.
It's no different than the subwoofer bass nonsense that wakes up entire neighborhoods. There's freedom and then there's invading other peoples space. You can smoke and snort drugs until you die for all I care, but don't force ME to have to do the same thing. You can blow your own ears out with whatever music you want to, but don't try to force ME to have to hear it in a public place. Simple rational thought on things like this seem to evade some people.....or maybe they just like when people turn their heads when they roll into town. Grow up, kids.

I know many who you would never poke fun at.... ever.
You are not forced to go to the places where these bikers go. They could say the same thing. Why should they have to tolerate you "Family People" in an area they wish to ride in. Obviously if the police aren’t taking action they have deemed it acceptable.
Maybe it has to do with attention. But isnt that what your looking for by making this post? Attention? Grow up kid.
