No, existing trailer parks are "grandfathered-in", zoning wise, but I seriously doubt any new trailer parks will ever be allowed to be built in
Brookhaven. Additionally, there is the question of wether a trailer park would be allowed to be rebuilt, after some disaster such as a hurricane destroys most of a park - on this I'm not sure.

In general, Long Island is an RV and Mobile Home-unfriendly place. Most folks up here have a preconcieved notion (and not a flattering one at that) about people who live in trailer parks, but I see that as THEIR problem, not yours. They aren't particularly popular here(people here are worried about their "Property values" and "image"), and the colder climate
and snowfall here is probably a contributing factor as to why they aren't popular on Long Island.

Most have already been mentioned by others here - there is a small park in Mattituck(AFAIK), and there is a small park in Wading River on Wading River Rd, just a little bit south of 25A, where at least one *small* mobile home has a for sale sign on it (I pass it about once a week). If you don't care about schools, I'm going to assume you have no school-age kids, in which case a small MH like this might be perfect for you. If you don't care about the surrounding neighborhood, there are at least one(2?) park(s) in
the Amityville area. Keep in mind, however, lot-rents aren't cheap here like they are down south. Figure $400 a month and up, for starters.
BTW, I pass by the big Wading River park(near East Winds) every day in my travels - the trailers seem to be 70s-80s vintage, but seem well maintained and neat. I don't know what the prices are, or what the lot rents go for, though.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a 5 bdrm fixer-upper in Patchogue for $98k.
Prices are still falling, and haven't bottomed out yet

There are live-aboard houseboats in Riverhead. But first you either have to buy the houseboat(house-barge, really) *itself* from it's owner, and then pay dockage every month to the marina. Dockage is about the same as lot rent, and wether you rent or own, you pay property taxes either indirectly or directly, but pay them you will There is no escape!
Although it's pretty nice and in a convenient location, I personally can't see spending $80-100k for a houseboat OR Mobile home, only to have to pay rent forever to whoever owns the property upon which it sits or is tied to. To me, that's the worst of both worlds. Both types depreciate, one is vulnerable to ice damage and sinking(and probably not insurable for mortgage purposes), neither provide real equity, housing security or tax-advantages, and at the end of the day, you've effectively spent a LOT of money, only to tie yourself to a landlord on whom you'll be even more dependant, than if you simply rented an apartment. At least with an apartment, you can easily leave - not so with owning a mobile home or a housebarge tied to someone else's land.
PS, I used to live on my boat in Hampton Bays back in the 70s. I had a
old wooden 38' cabin cruiser, but dockage was just $100 a month, and included water and electric (while "summer rentals" of local homes fetched
$20k or more just for the summer season, even then). I used to catch my dinner (blue crabs and snappers) without leaving the dock, and used to barbeque right in the cockpit (the open, back part of the boat). Great times back then (ah, to be 19 again ). I'm sure thing$ have changed considerably in the interim.

There are many mobile home communities in Vermont where winters are far colder and much snowier. I doubt the weather factors into why there aren't as many mobile homes here.

I doubt it too, but was just trying to put a nice face on LI's NIMBYism
