Default cablevision - verizon

any updates on best package, service?

I just moved to nassau, long island from queens.
Previously we only had time warner cable.

We would be looking for the triple play, (tv, phone, internet)
we also have verizon cell phones, if its worthwhile to tie that in too, thanks.

well one of the biggest things is that verizon ties u into a 2 year contract, with a early termination fee, while cablevision does not. and im pretty sure verizons $90 triple play doesnt include fios internet, its the "high speed internet" which is not as fast.

I recently switched to Fios & couldn't be happier. Internet speed is just as fast as it was with CV, but the TV service is 100% better. More channels, better picture, no pixelation. We only signed a 1 year contract, and if their prices goes up drastically after the contract, I'll threaten to go back to CV and see what they offer.

They also have a referral program that gives you a one-time $25 credit for each service you sign up for. If anyone is interested, send me a PM and I can set you up.

FIOS tripleplay does include the 20/5 Mbps service. I got a good deal on mine when I signed up and it was only $100 and I get 20/20 internet which I actually use. TV is much better (HD channels do look a little better on fios and regular channels look much better). The phone works thru regular POTS lines (not VOIP) so your house needs to be wired for regular phone service.
As for the 2-yr contract, I'm not leaving so I could honestly care less aboutn that. Cablevision is always trying to get you to switch and they will cover the cost of the cancellation ($200) because they're hurting for your business so that shouldn't matter for you either unless you want to just cancel service without replacement.
I've had both and would pick FIOS without question (and FIOS had NFL Network and Cablevision doesnt!)

FIOS and it's no contest... the internet connection is great and never goes down, and the TV service is far superior.

definitely a selling point if you're an NFL junkie. On the other hand, I heard FIOS doesn't have MSG in HD. That would be a deal breaker for many Rangers/Knicks fans.

I would have switched to Fios, but they do not carry MSNBC. That's a station I watch fairly frequently.
