NJCAAN is on a distinguished road
The FAA is implementing its Airspace Redesign plan, which layers more low altitude flight tracks over Nassau. Sounds like Nassau is getting hit by this implementation. FYI, the military has the airspace off the coast substantially blocked since it utilizes this airspace for training purposes. As a result more commercial air traffic over flies Nassau. We have been trying for a while to get Nassau to join the 12 groups across the metro area fighting the Airspace Redesign implementation. If you would like to join this fight, contact us at info@njcaan.org NJCAAN www.njcaan.org

OK I just checked the Doppler 9850 FlightTRAKKR on the www and I think this picture pretty much speaks for itself:

When are Long Islanders going to WAKE UP and smell the jet fuel??? PROBABLY NOT UNTIL IT'S BURNING SEARING HOT THROUGH THEIR CHILDREN'S SKULLS AFTER A HORRIFYING WRECK CRASH LANDS IN THEIR BACKYARDS!!! I know a lot of you have jobs and probably don't realize the aircraft noise, but trust me - I have read several WikiPedia articles re: it and this is a legitimate threat. Another factor is that a lot of these pilots are illegal immigrant Hispanics who fly these planes around hopped up on Gleam, Poonjabi Speedballs and Sassafrass Jomjoms. Just the other day I saw one with a tail number ending in XIII....aka "13" aka MS-13.

I think the only real solution here is to do away with supersonic air travel altogether and go back to the quiet, halcyon days of rigid airships. Nassau County is almost twenty miles away from two of the largest airports in America, there's no reason we should ever have to contend with air traffic!!

Yea and that noise echos and is really load. The louding revving of an engine and then the screech of brakes. All of my neighbors are so fed up it is ridiculous. Let's put that noise next to your house and see how you like it. This is just another example of how the jolly vollies waste money and cause noise pollution almost every damn day.

Uhhhh - again, I think I know what I've been hearing over my house for 12 years.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can state a simple fact and people tell you that you are wrong. You live in Westbury, and I live in western GC. IT's not even comparable as far as hearing the planes. Oh, but maybe it is. Having never lived in Westbury, I cannot tell. Hey, there's a novel idea, not speaking about things I know nothng of.

I guess my DH has been hearing things his whole life. I guess my neighbor's campaign only started 2 years ago, when he was 93, even though he's lived here 60 years and was complaining about the noise when we moved in. Thanks for setting me straight, John.

While I applaud the attempt at humor by some on this thread, I must say that they clearly do not understand the issue.

We all know it is a reality of life on Long Island that there will be planes. However, the people affected here live in CENTRAL Nassau...not next to JFK. This is a quality of life issue. Try having loud jumbo jets come in over your home every 2 minutes for about 7 hours straight. Then come talk to me.

We all accept that jets will fly over the county at some point. The problem is that their flight arrival path is not being varied. The same neighborhoods...indeed the same streets...are being abused over and over again.

Until we see some variation in the flight path, we'll keep fighting.

Twingles--where exactly do you live?

I'm about 4 blocks west of Nassau Blvd, north of Stewart. The visual approach being used into runway 22L takes the planes straight over GC Park, over the GC High School, over the north part of the Estate section, diagonally through our neighborhood, then over the GC Country Club, over the St. Anne's Church area, and then through to Franklin Square.

This is the path that is used on sunny warm days. It is infuriating because you hear the jets roar like some sort of WW2 bombing drill.

If I had 7 hours to do nothing but sit around my house and listen to airplanes, you have no idea how ecstatic I would be! As it turns out the only occasion I'm ever home for that length of time is if I'm sleeping, on a good night.....and when I sleep, a plane could land on me and I wouldn't notice. Quality of life issues are things like not having a day off from work in 2 months or breaking your wrist and not having health insurance....from my perspective at least.

I'm sure it must be very hard to paint your toenails with those big stinky jumbo jets making their WOOOOOSH noise. Keep on fighting the good fight, no man should ever have to have his episode of The View interrupted!!
