Annonymous complaints
Hi there
In the past 18 months, I have had three annonymous complaints filed ; one with the town which was totally unfounded (neighbour said I had a tenant and I did not), two against my company, again, one was unfounded, the other was a neighbour problem that if the person who complained had actually called the company, it would have been dealt with professionally.
When did we turn into a state of big brother is watching you. I try to work hard, pay my bills on time, raise my kids to be honest, hardworking, studious kids, mind my own business and not give anyone a hard time. I am quiet where I live, dont do drugs, dont drink, I jsut try to live a good clean life.
What gives here? And of course when I try to find out who complained, oh that information cannot be given out. If someone has a beef, its ok now to go to the highest place, complain and then walk away and leave the person holding the bag ; even if the complaint is totally totally wrong!!!
Cant we just get along and mind our own business or do we need to meddle in others affairs all the time ; for what? People are getting angrier by the day and unfortunatley they are pushing everyone else to follow the same line.
We need to stop being angry and just get along. If you ahve a problem with someone, call them, drop by and ask. But dont go behind their backs and complain to the highest place. What happened to facing your accuser ; is that totally gone now.

Just curious - what were the other complaints about and what did Medford (assuming from your location label) do about it? I recall another post from last year or so in another town where someone had complained about someone having an illegal apartment, and I believe the matter was settled without too much hassle on the homeowner.
I agree with your main point though, a lot of these issues could be resolved without involving anyone else, and in fact, may bring neighbors closer together.

some people have nothing to do with thier lives. Ive found out who complained on us for my brothers boat in the backyard. the town constable came and my brother knew the constable. I asked who filed the complaint and it was my neighbor, but that asking without even knowing my brother new the constable. you should keep calling until you get someone to tell you who filed the complaint because it should be public info.

Does your home have the appearance of excessive occupancy or illegal (commercial)use?
If so, TOB will be on you (complaints or not). They are cracking down on Slumlords and illegal Commercial applications because they desperately need the tax revenue.
Once youre on the radar its tough to get off.
People in Brookhaven are getting fed up footing the bill while others skate and overcrowd the schools with illegal accessory apartments.
I suspect you will see more of this Taxpayer revolution stuff.
IMHO its a good thing for QOL.

Some people have nothing better to do. It's too bad no one has the integrity and responsiblity to even speak to you face to face. Everyone is passive aggressive. I guess this behavior is all over, permeating our workplaces, our neighborhoods and our lives. People are rediculous.

Its not about integrity.
Its about common sense and safety.
If represented a severe threat to your income/livelihood what would your reaction be?
Chances are if youre being a good neighbor, the inspectors wont be at your doorstep.

I think most people are afraid to confront other people about "issues". Most people nowadays do not take kindly to being challenged. There isn't a lot of "working it out over the fence" anymore.

A lot of people are cowards and would rather be anonymous when making a complaint about their neighbors. Of course that makes the situation worse because the neighbor will want to find out who it was and once he does the war will be on. What I mean by "war" is that the neighbor will than call the police for some stupid little thing and so on and on. Back and forth both parties accumulating reports and until there is a truce things will escalate probably up into vandalism and an eventual assault until someone is locked up which the Police will happily do because they will be chomping at the bit because of all the time they wasted listening to both parties tattleing on each other like children.
Of course that is a worst case scenario.

The place where I live is very nice. My Neighbour saw my employees moving furniture into my basement. If he had taken the time to talk to me I would have told him the truth. But no, he took the time to go to the town, make a complaint , then have an inspector come out to find it was bogus. My house is a single family house and will always be.
Can't we all just live together and mind our own business. If I was a slumlord then go after my. But I am not.
