When I first moved here, I was amazed to see LI had actual nature--and beautiful at that. Who knew! All I knew about it was the Long Island Lolita. (Seriously.) I love the hilly, woodsy, lush, leafy north shore, and of course the beaches to the south. I can hear birds every day from where I live and work. I'm glad for all the parks and preservation areas, hiking trails, etc.
Though that $6K Peconic Preservation tax for Riverhead Town residents is a bit much.
