Bald Hill Fireworks (Hope: beach, parking, park)

Hi all,

How late would one be able to get to bald hill on the 4th without being shut out from getting into the main entrance?

Last year we got there at about 7pm, and had to park in the auxilliary parking lots - initially not a big deal, but realized we really couldn't barely see the fireworks. We may get there by about 5:30-6pm because my husband has to work till then. Was last year an anomaly, or do you have to get there super early??

Any other solutions? Parking on the street, etc??

Last year saw show at Jones Beach for the second time.

The first year (2007) arrived an hour before the show, had to park two miles away (my family were not happy).

Last fourth of July arrived two hours early, was able to park in the closest parking spots. Took and umbrella and an ice chest. Really enjoyed the show.

The trick to beating the crowds is getting there early.....

I know, but it's impossible to get there early this year. Would love to get to Jones Beach, but I know the traffic, and that isn't gonna happen. Can you walk into the gate if parking from a distance?

Wish they still did the firework display at Smith's Point. That was easy peasy. Hope we won't need an umbrella this year, but boy it's looking like it.
