Thank you for clarifying where the stats came from. My feelings are not hurt at all by any of this. My kids are doing well in the school and hopefully they will continue to do well regardless of if the school district turns out to be last on the list. As I stated earlier, I am not looking to get into a heated argument. It is not as if I am sitting here angrily typing. I bought my house knowing about the school district and it did not and does not bother me. I went with what and where I can afford. At the time I bought my house I had also decided that I would not go any further east than this point. It was quite a commute from here to Brooklyn each day and I would not have wanted to add any more to it.

The "feelings hurt" remark related to someone else who is taking this discussion personally.

I'm sure your kids will be fine, because you seem to care. That's half the battle.

When you run out of arguments, go with hyperbole.

Hyperbole? You would rather read stats than listen to people who actually live in the district and send their kids to the schools within that district.
Furthermore, You can't accept a view that's different than your own. You and several other people here have that internet disease that proclaims "This is how it is". Anyone that offers a different opinion is attacked for it. I can only imagine how lop sided election discussions are here!
"This district is good, this one is bad" NEXT!
Hyperbole? Relating a story of a friend of a friend that knows this dude that works in the district, blah, blah, blah. That's hyperbole.
Stating I have an agenda is hyperbole.
Just take the last word and let's move on, ok?

why are you defending the area so strongly? do you live around here?
not just the schools aren't good, but the area does not seem/feel or look safe. you have neighbors letting their dogs out of their yards to come to people's yards, attack other dogs, bark at people, all while the owner is probably watching oprah, you have nascar drivers all over the place. everything seems run down. if you have something on the market that needs unloading i understand but don't paint a perfect picture of something that clearly is not. this is not a good area. you mentioned the park by the bay. that itty bitty park? really? that park makes the move desirable? that little park?

I wouldn't say i'm defending the area. Personally, I wouldn't live in N Bellport if you paid me. I'm pointing out that it's stupid to judge an area based on heresay with no facts. Despite people from the area saying the SD is ok, people want to believe what they want to believe.
But, it doesn't matter because expressing an opinion that differs from the status quo is frowned upon.
I know this is difficult to believe but I have had no problems with dogs, or their barking. I'm sure i'm wrong but this is my observation.
I also cannot vouch for who does and does not watch Oprah. Last I heard, Oprah was a billionaire and many people do watch her on TV. Is Bellport a hot spot for Oprah fans? I do not know.
I've also never seen a Nascar driver or car. Again, I must be wrong but I have not seen this.
I live in a nice neighborhood with nice, dog-barking-free neighbors on a very large property. There has not been any crime in my neighborhood or other problems. I'm not painting a picture, this is how it is,.
So you're perception of Bellport is wrong, or mine is wrong.
I don't care either way.
If it's a fact that Bellport is a sucky place to live, so be it.
Just trying to give the OP some info.

Its a tale of 2 cities and people get confused Zilla.
You clearly ventured to the nice side of the tracks.

Bellport is like the Hamptons south of So Country Rd and like Roosevelt on the north. One false move over there and youre in hell.

May be one of the roughest pockets on LI.
Bloods Crips Meth and Crack
Just ask any Cop.

I wouldnt send my kid to school there.

This is what I don't understand and why it looks like I'm "Defending" the area! "I wouldn't send my kids there". What does that mean? You wouldn't send your kid where? To a school in Bellport Village or Brookhaven Hamlet?
