The Subaru is popular but its by NO MEANS at the top of the list. Hell the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO model is far more popular than the scoobie.
Put it to you like this, I worked at a store that sold parts and accerories for imports and the Civics outsold every other platform by a LARGE margin... a very large margin.

Ok, you win. I'm happy to say that I don't know what a B16 or STI is.

STI = Subaru WRX STI.... the same car you were touting as the import king. Its the High end of the Impreza line.
B16 is a motor designation for a Honda motor. Like saying a Chevy 350 or 454. Does that help you?

Really what I don't get is that there's no regulation for bikes. If you want to do 200 mph on four wheels it'll cost 100k. If you want to do 200mph on two wheels it'll cost 15k if that.

It's simple physics...less weight, less friction, easier to go fast.
15K is a small price to play to have your head bounce off the pavement like a coconut after hitting a dip in the road at 150 mpH>

It's not physics thats the issue it's the accessability of these machines to people who probably shouldn't be on them.
A friend of mine went right out and bought an 1100. Way too much bike for a first timer. He's zipping along the NS and his back gets tired so he sits up. Pretty much like getting punched in the face at 95mph. He just barely held on long enough to slow down and get to the side where he sat contemplating his life for about an hour.

There is some truth to this, and it's somthing that has been discussed to death among the motorcycling community: Should an inexperienced person be able to go an buy a 400 pound bike that does a 10 sec 1/4 and 185mph?
My opinion is biased as I have enjoyed motorcyles for over 20 years now (I have 2 and am buying another tomorrow) and do not want gov't control.
The only thing I can say is despite the potential for disaster, stats show it's not the young sport bike riders that are dieing, it's the over 35 cruiser riders that are!
I have encountered more cruisers that simply had no business riding a bike over the years than I care to remember.
It is amazing what 15k will buy though.

It was worse, but it was a fraction of the people.
Less fatalities etc.

We need more enforcement and stricter penalties. No more of this probation and/or no license for 6 months crap. Take it away for life. Conscript them into a "Punishment/Penal Battalion". Do something besides a slap on the wrist.
