Anyone have a good remedy for slugs? I have tons of them. Before I lost what little strawberries I have left...how can I get rid of these things without dumping insecticide on them?
We used to salt them as kids :-)

if you leave a flat piece of wood laying in your garden you'll find them all under it when the sun comes out, then add salt
I've also heard a cup of beer in the garden works. I don't have much trouble with slugs, the chickens eat them.

Genius!! Ok I'll try it.
It is a bold assumption that I'll have any extra beer, but I'll try that too :-)

LOL sounds like the lawn in my backyard. Thursday afternoon I mowed the front and started on the back, but ran out of daylight! (have to do the front more often because a neighbor across from me has her house on the market )
Anyone have more poison ivy this year?? Hardly ever had any and this year it seems to be all over my backyard...

I had given up on this thread. Glad to hear I'm not the only one (well, not really glad, but you know what I mean).
My annuals have all been chewed to pieces. I'm not really sure it is all slugs, since I have a hard time believing they could climb into a huge pot. Weeds look fantastic - why don't the bugs/slugs go after them instead?! Hostas are like swiss cheese too.
And yes, the lawn looks great for once!
Some of the seeds did end up coming up. My tomato plants are actually doing the best out of everything - I'm surprised. I have an old firepit I turned into a planter, and threw some pumpkin seed in for the hell of it, and they're already huge. Just goes to show my veggie garden probably didn't have very ideal soil conditions. So I decided to reseed some of the veggies that didn't grow in the firepit, and I'm just going to transplant them when they are big enough. I never have luck with starting seeds indoors.
The beer in a cup does work. Throw some salt in it too & bury it level with the ground. It's just that with all this rain, the solution would have been diluted so I didn't bother with it.
As for mosquitos, I do have a homemade spray for that. It works 90% of the time, but has to be reapplied every 3 weeks or so. Take 1 part flat beer, 1 part mouthwash, and 1 part epsom salts. Put in a sprayer & attach to hose & spray the whole yard. It's healthy for the plants/grass, so no worries about that. It may keep the slugs away, but this is the only house I've had slug problems, so we'll see.
Good luck everyone.

I had to rip out all my lettuce. I had them in a planter. They were too soggy/muddy, & too many bugs got to them. So disappointed about that. I'm going to try again in the fall.

I finally got a chance to spend some time in my garden today & boy did I find alot of stuff going on.
My oregano has totally overtaken all of my raised beds & the ground around them. I've been ripping it out by the clumps. Also for the first time in 4 years I have TONS of weeds in raised beds!!! Usually by now I have tomato plants that are 3 ft tall, they are barely 1ft right now.
My annuals though I dont have many look really bad.
