Dont give up yet on MB. What part of Brooklyn are you moving from? The other poster has a valid point & MB may not be that bad for you.

Listen.... I grew up near the water.... a few hundred feet from it...

Why would you want to live on top of corrosion and pay more for that wonderful option..

You do not want to live near the water...

1. everything will be attacked from the salt air, everything
2. during a storm the tides rise and you are more susceptible to flooding even during a simple full moon
3. if during a hurricane or gloria to be specific, N.Y./long island was hit at high tide there would be no more mastic beach, shirley, mastic, moriches, blue point, and nearly every other town along the south side of the island all the way into queens... it would have been an additional 15' of water if a hurricane hits at high tide..

So keep that in mind when you think living near the water is so great... it's not, just added headace's.

Port North will become famous soon enoughPort North will become famous soon enough
If you like to live near or on to water why not try a houseboat in Port Washington (Nassau County). For under 200K and in some cases 100K you can live right on the water in a decent community less than 45 minutes by train to Manhattan.

Avoid Mastic Beach, its notorious for being full of disfunctional people and sex offenders.

why would I comment on an area I haven't been to? Have friends out there- I visited them once, wont do it again...absolutely not. As a single young female, I didn't feel safe there.

What area? I know people that live(12 years) a little north of the famous "business district" & they never had a problem. Is it sh*tty looking. Yeah. But his block isnt that bad at all.

I don't know what 'area'- the whole town looks like sh*t. Also, if you are not a woman and are not my age it may have been different for you. I got a creepy feeling when I went.

If by any chance anyone has been contacted by me in any regards, I have been notified by the web master that someone has been illegally trying to log into my account.

Please be advised that if you are contacted by anyone from ip address 76.184.36.81, they are not me and to report them immediately.

Please, I know who you are. Stop this insanity and get on with your life. This is harassment and shows that you need help.

I have picked out a house in Shirley that is really nice. The lawyers are working on the details. I have been out there a lot lately and I like where we have picked out our house.

Thanks everyone for all the responses.
