Question about MLSLI.com
While looking up the homes I was wondering if there is a way to tell how long a home has been on the market? I see the search thing where you can look at homes that have been on the market for the past 2 days, 5 days, 10 days or what ever...
Is there a way to tell if a home has been on the market for say 150 days? (without calling the agents directly, as I am basically just trying to do some research...)

I recently saw the same question (can't remember the thread). According to one of the realtors who post here, only realtors can find out that info from mlsli. We can't.
Zillow however can tell you how many days it has been on there. Though a seller could have had their home posted by the realtor on mlsli.com on 1/1/2008 and maybe post it on zillow on 1/1/2009. So there is a gray area there.
Here is hint. The latest MLS numbers start with 219. I think 216 was around January (I could be wrong though).

This is a good hint....
to the OP....
If you go a open house ask the REA to put you on listingbook or something like that. It tells you everything you want to know about the house, even the last price change $ and date....

Time on market is not available to the public. You can get a good idea by looking at the MLS number, as they are issued sequentially. We are currently up to about 2197000.

When you do find a house that you like, you can find out in which community (city, village or CDP) that house is actually located, which is oftentimes different from the community named in that house's mailing address, by using the Census Bureau's online address search function. (CDP or Census Designated Place is the Census Bureau equivalent for a hamlet in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.)
And, very importantly, among other things, the Census Bureau's online address search function also indicates in which school district an address is located.

I don't believe that you can find that out, However, most homes that make it to mlsli.com have been on the market for a long time and have not sold through a realty. (For not all, but for many mlsli.com is a last resort to sell).
Homes that sell quickly don't even make it to mlsli.com.

This is not correct. What you are talking about are "in-house" listings that the listing broker does not put on MLS. While there were many of these during the hot market of a few years ago, today virtually all listings go straight to multiple listing.

What Tom said! This is completely false. Multiple listings are the norm these days, and a new listing shows up on mlsli.com within a day of the listing going active.
As others said, you can gauge the age of a listing by the number (and remember you can sort your search by listing date), but even that doesn't tell the full story because a listing may expire and then get relisted again, essentially bumping it back to the top.
