Who were the winners? Kessel, and LILCO bondholders, thanks to Mario Cuomo (remember the name in Nov) who struck a deal that WE THE RATEPAYERS get the bill for the 'failed' endeavor. The debt should have been paid off strictly out of the proceeds of the LILCO sale to the state.

Kessel lied his *ss off too about electricity rates going down significantly because LIPA is a non-profit as opposed to LILCO which was a for profit.
Why did they put the cart before the horse and BUILD THE ENTIRE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT to the point where it was ready to be operated, THEN decide not to operate it because of the evacuation concerns?
Why didn't the IDIOTS FIRST get the evacuation plan approved or disapproved before spending all that money on a useless plant?
Whoever did this should have been hung for being such morons, but probably floated away in golden parachutes at LI'ers expense.
