What's with all the Sketchy people on LI?
Its becoming the Island of Misfit Toys people.
Is it me?
Are the NYC judges sending them out on the LIRR to wander?
Anyone been to Port Jeff lately?
Hows about Hicksvile?
Is it me or are we devolving?
I hate to say it but the chasm between the haves and the have nots is getting worse and its swallowing the Middle Class.
Whats your take is QOL improving..or not?

Its definately getting worse everywhere. The Hicksville LIRR station is becoming a haven for bums, and Hicksville itself is loaded with illegals. This is what happens when the middle class are forced out. Hicksville and Syosset are a perfect example. They both used to be middle class areas. But when the aging baby boomers started leaving Syosset, developers came in, knocked down their homes for McMansions, which drove up taxes and property values, so now mostly rich folks live there.
In Hicksville, as baby boomers moved out, those same developers and rich people bought up the houses to put their "help" in. They became flophouses full of illegal aliens.

There's been sketchy people and areas on LI for a long time. Maybe those areas are expanding a bit...or maybe people are just more aware of them now thanks to all the information we're exposed to.

What's wrong with the Hicksville LIRR station? I take the LIRR from there to the city everyday and I don't notice any weirdos. The only difference I see now as compare to 10-15 years ago is a more diverse working class heading to NYC.

Its not Hicksville per se.
Its Island wide and has nothing to do with race.

As the cost of living gets higher expect more of it. A couple of years ago some people were barely making it, but at least they were making it. Now they aren't and as things start to go downhill, more sketchy types will move in. We are on an island so there's no where to run, no where to hide.
Funny you mention Hville, was there a couple of weeks ago. Yikes.

Housing prices down. Way down.
Sketchy people that still have jobs now have the opportunity to move into formerly non-sketchy neighborhoods which will most likely become, uh, sketchy neighborhoods.
Sketchy employers are firing non-sketchy employees in order to hire cheaper sketchy employees, more than likely sketchy employees without legal documentation.
Sketchy homeowners Island wide are building sketchy illegal apartments for sketchy tenants.
Other sketchy homeowners are renting out their unsellable sketchy house to sketchy tenants while they move out of state.
