Wedding ideas near Long Beach (w/in 1 hour)
Hi all- My sister is moving to Long Beach with her future husband. She wants to have a small wedding (spend apx $5k on reception). Does anyone have some good ideas ? The church is in Long Beach, so we can drive up to 30-60 minutes out to get to reception location. The wedding is in late September. Thanks so much for any suggestions!!! We were thinking: Vineyard or cute Inn, etc. I would say we would have apx 50-60 people.
Thanks again!!!

Vineyard? You will have to drive to the North Fork of LI for that and it will take a lot longer than 60 minutes.
How about the Maine Maid Inn in Jericho? I held a large wedding shower there once and it was very nice and it was not too costly. You can go up the Loop Parkway from Long Beach and hit the major parkways from there. I would say it would take no more than 45 minutes.

I think the Maine Maid is closed. How about Milleridge in Jericho, they have a ton of small rooms.
How many people are you talking about?

the knights of columbus in oceanside has a nice large room, very pretty more like a catering hall.

I used to be be a DJ, did 100's of weddings all over the island.
If you are looking to spend on the low end, check out the fire department in Long Beach.
Next look at the VFW.
Did many parties in both places.
I would go with the VFW - better parking, easier set up.
Watch out for the village police - they can be A-holes......

The Milleridge Inn is cute but they have over 10 rooms so there is a chance your wedding may be one of five or more events going on at the same time. Also, seating is extremely cramped, crowded, and basically not condusive to having a memorable event. Also, if it is a hot & muggy day, your guests will be in agony. There are other places that you'll do much better than the Milleridge. I would avoid it unless you did not have a choice. A place in a vineyard is more than an hour out East. Try to find a spot where you'll be the only event going on. I second the Fox Hollow mention above, just about exactly what you're looking for ) Yours may not be the only event going on but they are a cut above the other generic LI wedding factories.

I also got Married in Long Beach. We had our reception at The Riviera, it's in Massapequa. It's only about a 30 minute ride to get there and, they were reasonable in price. Only 1 event at a time so you have the run of the grounds. check them out!

Most reception halls would be out, unless you want a daytime wedding. The nicer ones want you to guarantee about 125-150 people, and usually charge $100 per person.
Try looking at restaurants. LIweddings.com is a great site for planning

Being a wedding photographer, you should check out the new Allegria in Long Beach on the boardwalk. They are just opening and offering great deals. Don't know about their availability but speak to Jenn. Her and her husband, Todd own the place. It is super beautiful! Best of luck to you.
