Default For those who may not be familiar with Glen Head

Glen Head has a definitely confusing geography -- more than 7 out of every 8 places with a "Glen Head, NY 11545" mailing address (8,366 acres) are NOT in the Hamlet of Glen Head (1,068 acres).

For those who may not be familiar with Glen Head:

Glen Head is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northwest part of the Town of Oyster Bay, in the north-central part of Nassau County.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Glen Head in the Town of Oyster Bay is bordered on the north by the City of Glen Cove; on the east by the Village of Matinecock; on the south by the Village of Old Brookville and the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing and the Village of Sea Cliff.

Glen Head is one of those villages and hamlets on Long Island where the majority of the places with the community name in their mailing address are not in the hamlet: places that have a "Glen Head, NY 11545" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Glen Head are in the Village of Matinecock, the Village of Old Brookville, the Village of Brookville, the Village of Upper Brookville, the Village of Old Westbury, the Hamlet of East Norwich, the Village of Muttontown and the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Even Manorhaven isn't all bad, there are some good deals to be had there too!

Most of the problems Port had years back seem to have dissappeared, don't think twice about moving here.
I agree, moved to Port a year ago and with some reservations due to some of the negative posts I have seen on this board but I have no regrets and I never looked back. Port is a great safe town and I do think its really a up and coming place. It has great restaurants, Cafes, and shops plus one of the best modern libraries in the county. They are also investing in the water front to make it more accessable to the community and the Port Washington LIRR line makes it very accessable to NYC. I find much to do here and it being a great place to live.
