Yes close proximity to Wyandanch may seem like a problem, but I think that once you start getting away from the border with wyandanch, the community becomes much nicer. It's all about what neighborhood you're in.

Sorry I don't have any specific examples of streets or addresses, I just am giving the information I have observed from driving in and through that area.

Wheatley Heights is a very nice area and HHH is an excellent school district (one of the best on Long Island). The proximity of Wyandanch shouldn't be an issue. It never has in the past, and the income differences between Wyandanch and Wheatley Heights basically won't allow it to happen (median income in Wheatley Heights is almost double of what it is in Wyandanch)

Default For those who may not be familiar with Wheatley Heights

Wheatley Heuights is one of those confusing communities where none of the places in the community have the hamlet's name in their mailing address.

For those who may not be familiar with Wheatley Heights:

Wheatley Heights is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the north-central part of the Town of Babylon, in the southwest part of Suffolk County, along the Babylon/Huntington town line.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Wheatley Heights in the Town of Babylon is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Melville and the Hamlet of Dix Hills in the Town of Huntington (the Babylon/Huntington town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Deer Park; and, on the south and west by the Hamlet of Wyandanch.

Wheatley Heights is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet's name in their mailing address: places in the Hamlet of Wheatley Heights have a "Melville, NY 11747" and "Wyandanch, NY 11798" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Let's not forget that Wheatley Heights also borders Melville
As in many instances, neighborhoods within a community (hamlet?) can vary greatly, and Wheatley Heights is no exception.

For example, take Bagatelle Rd South, and it turns into Conklin - that's about where it changes from Melville to Wheatley Heights--wide, tree-lined streets, properties with 1/4 acre++, well maintained homes and yards...
