Are they seriously good? I mean clean, merchandise on the shelves and not all over the floor and you can find things?
I'd never drive out there for them, not worth the gas, but just wanted to know if they were all like the ones in Suffolk.

theyre pretty good over here. to all of those that bash them, why? Everything is there when I want it. I can do most of my shopping there where as if i didnt, I would have to go to multiple stores for my needs. its convienant to have everything there all at once.

Ok, here is my reason for bashing them. I have 3 near me and all 3 do not carry everything. All 3 always have merchandise on the floor, that is its just sitting there and not on the shelves. The shelves are not always stocked with everything, a lot of times they are empty. Spills just go unnoticed. They're not cleaned up. Also if you ask someone there where something is located, i.e. tweezers, lunch bags, etc.... they do not know or they can't understand what you are talking about (i.e. they do not speak much english). I do not have any problem with people, but if you're going to hire someone to work on the floor and to help customers, make sure they can do the job rather than just sticking anyone out there.
And a lot of times if you need something from the top shelf, they have to call 5 different people to have someone get a ladder to get it down for you because "its not their job". I have since learned to just climb up the shelves to get it myself.

Wal-Mart (not Super Wal-Mart) doesn't have THAT much of a better selection than a good Target.
My experience with Super Wal-Mart was that it was just too big. As tempting as it might be to have one stop (no unloading and reloading kids into car seats), it's not worth it.

As far as food goes, I think the best supermarkets are the ones that are heavily shopped so the food is fairly fresh. Personally, I don't supermarket shop at a super Wal-Mart because I find a lot of their grocery items come in the large/bulk sizes and I'm single. You know, I can't lug, don't need or have room for 16 rolls of toilet paper, supersized detergent or a package of 10 pork chops and I don't want to grocery shop in two different stores.

I think you summed up the major issues with walmart on long island. The help. (Or lack there of).
For what its worth, I have been to almost all of the walmarts around nassau/suffolk in my travels and if we go to one, we only go to the Farmingdale location on Route 110 but even that place has changed since its been open. I have seen the general appearance of the store go down a bit. Pretty much my experience has been of what you mentioned. Word of advice--Go early in the morning--it will probably be the only time where your shopping experience will resemble some sort of normalcy. (spelling )
I will never step foot in the Westbury walmart ever again. That place is a disaster show. It does not help that its in a location completely saturated with stores but still, think of your worst walmart experience, and for some reason, it will top that. This is all my humble opinion based on my experiences so take it or leave it.

I like the Farmingdale Wal Mart because Houlihan's is right there & it gives me an excuse to have lunch there.

dont always assume that. the pathmark in seaford is always busy BUT they have a bad habit of leaving the milk out of the refrigerated area for days before it hits the store shelved. thier fish section is also unsanitary and they leave the fish was past thier expiration date.
