If Matheson couldve taken credit for the beach he wouldve too.
The only thing legendary about the OBI was Bobs ego.

Are Carvelle's only on Long Island? Come to think of it, I don't think I have seen them anywhere else.

Out of the gajillion burger and pizza joints on the Island, how many are actually really good? I'm not saying average, I mean like after you had the burger or slice, you were blown away by how good it was.
Maybe I'm just whacked, but I find 9 out of 10 pizza joints to be mediocre at best.
At least with burgers, you can bury a bad one with fixin's to make it a little more edible. Fast food places like McD's, BK, etc, don't count.

I agree. I don't think Long Island is known for great pizza. Its all relative though, most places are better than the slice you get in probably most of the rest of the country or other destinations I have been, but compared to NYC most LI places don't come close. You can walk into almost any NYC pizzeria and get a great slice. Each LI town I frequent I try a slice at every pizzeria to see which is the best. So far, the only one that has really impressed me is Nunzio's pizzeria in west babylon, truly a good slice. That is of course in my limited experience of LI pizzerias of which there are many many I have not been too.
As for the other question about bagels on the other hand, I think a large portion of bagel places on the island have really good bagels. I think the question should be where are the bagels terrible.

For many, the question is where are the bagels and bialys kosher?

LI has great pizza, it gets worse as you go east though. By the time you're in Montauk, you might as well be eating pizza from North Dakota. I think even West Babylon is pushing it....the furthest east I've gotten anything really good is Little Vincents in Huntington.
