Back to the OP which asked our opinion of Peter King's comments:

IMO it showed a remarkable lack of good taste and class for an elected official to publicly express his personal opinion in the words that he used. Especially since he should have known better than to brand someone "as fact" as the committer of the crime that the person had been acquitted of. Let's face it, it doesn't matter if the man on the street thinks MJ or OJ or whoever it may be, received the "wrong" verdict from a jury but elected officials SHOULD have enough common sense to think before they speak (or in this case, type).

I do think that the media coverage of Jackson's death is WAAAAY overblown though. I saw firsthand the media coverage of the deaths of JFK, RFK and MLK and to see pretty much the same level of coverage given to an entertainer is just not appropriate IMHO. Especially one who has been "under a cloud", so to speak. (Remember that JFK's various quirks and peccadillos weren't public knowledge at the time he died.)

Personally I'm heartily sick of Michael Jackson coverage every time I turn on a news channel. Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan seem to be covered almost as an afterthought. The only thing that even showed up as a blip on the MJ Radar media-blitz was Sarah Palin's resignation a few days ago.

I can't take another minute of Jackson coverage either, and the guy was a creep (although looking at his upbringing you can't blame him)..however, Peter King is a jerk and should zip it.

I agree that the Catholic Church has been very wrong (I still believe that they are). They ask priests to do something that is humanly unnatural (celibacy).

Peter King was dead on, the media circus is a joke. 7 soldiers died in Afghanistan yesterday and all NBC can talk about is Michael Jackson dying ONE AND A HALF WEEKS AGO. If the media had its priorities right, it would be spending time helping remember and memorialize true American heroes, not a child molesting freak who had been blessed with a good voice.

And right-o about Reverend Sharpton, I mean it is truly pathetic, if there was any doubt that his days as a champion of equality have long passed, it is his breathless defense of Jacko, instead of fighting for people to be judged "not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

If our media has any decency left they will spend more time focussing on our heroes abroad, and less on some child rapist. While they are at it, why don't they stop eating Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton's lies up, and actually challenge them... oh that's right, questioning a Black leader's motives and methods, would be raaaacist

Default The man is dead

Dean Acheson said of Joe McCarthy (a man who vilified him unjustifiably, and unmercifully, as a communist, which he certainly wasn't):

Don't say anything of the dead unless it is good.

Acheson was a man of grace, and a gentleman.

King is neither.

I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher.

So don't you dare ever say anything bad about Hitler, Stalin, or Saddam Hussein. Yeah, your above quote really makes no sense when you give it more than a cursory glance, but gee wiz, it sure sounds nice!

And you must realize that it was a backhand at Senator McCarthy (who was largely right about the Communist issue, and many Communists), he was saying that there was nothing good to say about Sen. McCarthy.

Seven soldiers died over the weekend serving their country over the Independence day weekend. Michael Jackson gets the front page and they are buried in the middle of the paper.

What kind of country do we live in where our warriors are ignored and some freak who lived a very questionable past gets media coverage that crosses the lines of insufferable.

King was 100% correct. I can totally see his point of view that the heroics of Americans that actually make sacrifices and lay down their lives for their fellow countryman are ignored over the 4th weekend for a carnival sideshow.

I'm tired of all these dullards drinking the "Jesus Juice".

The media has definitely turned into a 24/7 issue of the national enquirer.

The border between entertainment and news has been crossed, that's probably how we elected our first celebrity President.
