Hi:
I live in a diverse, safe, quiet neighborhood. It is considered to be one of the best school districts on Long Island. Located in Western Suffolk County, only 50 minutes from Manhattan. Believe me, the taxes in Nassau are hideous! Email me and I'll discuss this area with you.

North Bellmore has become quite a bit more diverse in the last five years. There are many families of all different backgrounds and quite a growing Asian (Indian/Pakistani population) with a mosque right on Newbridge Road,. There are enough black families in the area and in the school where the OP would be comfortable.

(S. bellmore and Bellmore is not as diverse as N.Bellmore)

While North Bellmore and Bellmore are hamlets in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, and while there may be the southern part of the Hamlet of Bellmore, there is no village nor hamlet named South Bellmore on the official maps of Nassau County.

If by a diverse neighboorhood your looking for a school with a noticeable black population
Long Beach, Floral Park, Sewanaka, Lawrence, Manhasset, Freeport, Baldwin, Roosevelt, Elmont, Valley Stream, Westbury, Hempstead, East Meadow, Uniondale, Glen Cove, Rockville Centre. All of have at least noticable black populations. Go to greatschools.net for a school report card.
I think any area of Nassau County with few exceptions will give you ethnic diversity. That might be Indian, Spanish, Middle Eastern, Asian. Honestly, you should just search the area for your dream house. The density of Nassau County will help ensure that your child is not shelter from any culture, unless you want them to be.

I didn't read the whole thread but why not Bay Shore? I recently moved to Bay Shore and so far, I find it to be a gem. I feel a sense of community and pride in the schools already, and from what I've researched, the schools are good. I would recommend it.

Here comes ignorance thats 99% truth. Suffolk county is a ****hole from william floyd parkway (shirley) and westward. Center moriches onward is nice. Nassau is way to packed and city like for my liking, and if im going to pay that much for a house, why not move out east where its private and empty. Bayshore is a miserable area, along with brentwood and pretty much all of islip besides Bohemia and Oakdale, Great River is nice too. Oh and why is everyone so in love with Huntington? its pretty crappy i wouldnt live there on a bet.

Anyway in conclusion, there is really no point in living on LI unless its eastern long island. otherwise...why not move to a different state where its much much cheaper and you can live more comfortably?

I think Floral Park would be a good idea. There are certain blocks, especially those north of Jericho Tpke that have become quite multicultural. I live in what is referred to as the west end, and it has been sprinkled with various ethnicities--Indian, Dominican, Mexican, African American, Asian, etc and everyone gets along really well. The schools are good, the neighborhood is quiet, and we have our own private police department who respond in about one minute anytime I have called them. To get a better idea, you may want to hang out by Floral Park Memorial Junior-Senior High school when school gets out. It is on Plainfield Avenue, but the front actually faces Locust Avenue
Good luck, I hope I was able to help
