I'm sure all these lovely politicians do the same thing. IMO, it is an extreme waste of taxpayer money.

The last election, all the streets surrounding Jonas Salk Middle School in Levittown (where I voted) were torn up and big signs were put up "TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - THANK YOU KATE MURRAY!"....I didn't vote for her!

I would say most elected officials tend to try and use these town or county funded mailings and make it about themselves almost like a campaign mailing, but Murray seems to take the cake in this regard.

Hello, LIMA. We all know many politicians love spending/wasting public funds on frivolous matters. Yet it appears Ms. Murray takes it to a new level. For years mailboxes in the TOH have been filled with costly mailings that are primarily designed to promote her physical likeness...and I am tired of it.
As far as I am concerned, she is a person with some serious personality disorders who is not the type of leader I want to see in charge of our money.
The recent public exposure of how she rehired her retired 83 year-old father and placed him in a TOH job at three times the normal salary for that position absolutely shocked and angered me. This act, in addition to her apparent innate need to promote her physical image, tells me she is psychologically damaged and needs to find another line of work.

Hello, Sean. Thank you for replying and for voting for anyone who is not related to Ms. Murray.
As a TOH resident, could you estimate how often you receive literature from Ms. Murray?

Hello, Smash. No doubt Ms. Murray is over the top with respect to wasting our money with the constant mailings...yet it seems Anthony J. Santino is right behind her. While he has not yet flooded mailboxes with expensive color brochures and leaflets, he is fairly active in mailing letters about mundane topics most residents have little interest in.
I fear if he aspires to higher office, where he has access to increased public funding, he too may acquire the Murray disease.
Thanks to all for sharing your comments and concerns.
For those of you thinking my comments about Ms. Murray are politically motivated, I assure you they are not. Our taxes are going through the roof and I am fed up with wasteful spending.

Has anyone called her office and inquired about the need for this? Maybe her office should be flooded with calls about it.

Nothing like shameless self promotion. I can understand wanting to put a face to a name, so some of it is obviously needed. However the fact that she is so over the top with it is a bit nuts and a waste especially on taxpayer funds as opposed to her own campaign funds. Not to mention McElroy (her opponent this year) is much better to look at than she is.

We use Murray's mail to line the bottom of the bird cage. Without any encouragement, he's gotten quite good at finding her smiling face when doing his business.

I kinda gave up on following politics, but I sorta got the impression that maybe she gave a damn about her job. She appears to be all over the place doing some kind of public appearance and what-not. And, supposedly the Town Of Hempstead is in good financial shape with a budget surplus or some crap like that.
Regardless, I'm tired of all politicians. They all suck. Every last one of them.
I think it's time for a political overthrow. We, the people, should just kick it oldschool and storm the County Office's with torches and pitchforks and grab all these morons right by the shirt and throw 'em out on the curb and reform everything from scratch.
This crap will never, ever, end. Things will never get better here, it'll always be status quo.
My assessment went down for the upcoming year. Taxes still increased. WTF???
It's official...I can no longer afford my house. Awesome.

Going a bit off topic here so I will keep this short. Assessment going up or down has never impacted taxes, its how the assessment compares with the average assessment in the particular jurisdiction that determines it. Also keep in mind this years taxes were based on the 07 assessments. Also keep in mind you have several taxing jurisdictions. School taxes pretty much go up every year, so even if the assessment has no impact and the county holds the line on taxes, if your budget passes (or even if it doesn't) you will see an increase because of the schools.
