Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray and her loyal minion
Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino? How much money is their love for distributing photographic images of themselves costing Town of Hempstead residents and business owners?
Kate Murray and Anthony J. Santino recently used the USPS to flood Oceanside with a 10.5 x 5 color flyer advising residents and business owners they are attempting to enhance traffic safety by installing a electronic traffic speed feedback sign in the vicinity of Oceanside School #4.
Installing this sign is a good thing...yet is it fiscally prudent to spend thousands of dollars in production, printing and postal costs to advise people of their good deed?
Of course, in order to satisfy her innate need for public recognition, Kate Murray's and Anthony J. Santino's image appears on this self promotional flyer, not once but TWICE.
On the front of this Kate Murray and Anthony J. Santino sponsored flyer is the image of a man wearing a security guard uniform, holding the hand and book bag of a child waiting to cross a roadway. Has anyone in the Town of Hempstead ever observed a man wearing a security guard uniform helping a child cross a roadway???
What is Kate Murray's and Anthony J. Santino's objective for mailing this type of unrealistic image? Is it to subliminally convey a
FALSE and MISLEADING sense of safety? I suggest false and misleading because we all know men wearing security guard uniforms
DO NOT play any official role in helping anyone, including children, cross the street.
A few years ago, a concerned Town of Hempstead resident or business person, who was apparently sick of having their mailbox constantly bombarded with a stream of flyers and color brochures bearing Kate Murray's image, posted a gripe on the News12 message board about her incessant need to waste taxpayer money via these costly mailings.
About a month after the post appeared on the News12Sound Off message board, News12 did a expose on these mailings.
When a News12 reporter attempted to interview Kate Murray about this matter, surprisingly she was no where to be found..even though the cameras were there, ready to capture her image for all News12 viewers to see.
In order to establish the cost of these Kate Murray mailings, News12 took
ONE of her mailings to a local printer who estimated it cost tens of thousands of
$$$$ to print this ONE four page color brochure...this estimate did not include the cost of production and postage for this particular brochure.
Since that New12 report, apparently Ms. Murray decided to share the spotlight by enlisting the aid of Anthony J. Santino and including his image in many of her self promotional mailings that regularly appear in mailboxes throughout the Town of Hempstead.
Over the years that she has been the town's top elected official, how much of our hard earned tax money has Kate Murray frittered away in order to promote her smiling face and perfectly groomed hairstyle?
The cost of producing, printing and delivering these flyers or brochures for each town or village located in the Town of Hempstead must be astronomical.
Is it possible a fiscally responsible town board member could introduce a bill prohibiting the inclusion of a politician's image on Town of Hempstead mailings?
Perhaps this bill would discourage Kate Murray and Anthony J. Santino from squandering OUR money in order to promote themselves.
