Unfortunately asking about school districts will get you a zillion different responses. I grew up in Huntington and went to Huntington High School. My DH grew up in Huntington and went to Whitman. We started out in Huntington village and that's where my kids started school. We ended up in South Huntington district (and I was so mad to move there). But that being said I liked the district (and I am a teacher). We did recently relocate to NC before our oldest started HS but he was slated to go to Whitman and I was fine with it. Just like most of LI you have good areas and not so good areas. The schools are diverse in Huntington but overall my kids got a good education.

The first 4 or 5 blocks south of Little Plains are in Harborfields. Past that is South Huntington. Obviously there is a big difference in the school districts, so if that is something that is important to you make sure you double check. That area (it's called Robin's Park) is a nice little secret, probably the only place you can get into Harborfields for around $400k give or take. Maybe less with this market.
