How could your saying that I am from Texas possibly offend me.
My father was from Brooklyn and then Babylon, LI. I have spent a lot of time in NY because my grandparents, aunts and uncles live there. I spent time during several summers at Catskill Game Farm.
Yes, I was born in Texas but I lived all over the place. My father was career AF. Even lived in Newburgh for a while......and then on Stewart AFB. My sister was born at West Point. I know quite a bit about NY.
Your reply to me was very ungracious and quite tacky. I have not said anything negative in this thread. You don't know me. So cut out the Long Horn remarks. Besides, I'm a Texas A&M fan and not a UT fan.
Regardless of your rude behavior I will always hold NY close to my heart. I have roots there. As for you, Bubba, read between the lines.

On a recent trip through Miami Int'l Airport, I did not see too many guidos but anglo-looking skater/surfer dudes -- guys w/ bleached blond hair (page boy style), funky allover print white ball caps and funkier white allover print jackets in dazzling bright colors. The first time I saw the "look" on a teen I thought it was cute and originial, but then I kept seeing it over and over again. Not exactly sure where this look originates -- South Florida? California? -- as these kids were just passing through on their way to vacationing in the Caribbean. My guess is the bright colors are influenced by the hot weather, Latin art (which is very colorful) and surfer/hippy coastal culture.

I'm in air conditioning. The heat (103) is not getting to me.
I know what a Guido is. Kenny explained it well. I mentioned Father Guido because that is the only person I know of named Guido. Plus, I think he is funny and I know his name is not really Guido but I'd be real happy to hear his homily any given Sunday (if I happen to be there).

florida is more affluent to latinos than italians, although many of my italian friends moved to florida.
I remember when I was in florida and they never knew what a guido was. they said I reminded them of tony danza!

HA HA! so true...
Right after highschool I would run into my "former" metalhead friends here and there...only to find to my amazement that they had magically transformed into guido's.
Especially all the Rosedale and Valley Stream guys.
It's like the second they walked off stage with the diploma, they ran right out to the mall for a haircut and wardrobe makeover.
