Let's please stay on topic. The OP has not expressed any interest in Lakeview, Rockville Centre, or Malverne.

Actually, 11 Maine Ave. is in the Malverne SD. Here's information for that SD: Schools in Malverne Union Free School District | GreatSchools

Back again with the same old agenda? Even pushing it on the OP when they didn't ask anything about it? How are the SDs in SYRACUSE doing?

The Malverne SD has not improved nearly enough when you take into account that the taxes for a house in Lynbrook located in that SD are just as expensive as the taxes for a house located in Lynbrook 20, which is a national school of excellence while the numbers in Malverne are mediocre for LI. Why advise someone to pay all those taxes ... for what???? Everybody in the Malverne SD should get a 50% discount on property taxes if performance is taken into account when it comes to how much they charge. That is my problem with "developing" or "underperforming" school districts on LI ... the taxes are still sky high and for what? That is why I advise staying away from them. Shun them until they improve or until they start charging less (never happen). They have some nerve charging such high property taxes and giving crap performance in return. If they get the same high tax money, there isn't much incentive to improve, is there? Why sign on for a losing battle when you can get a house in a better school district than that?

Yes, the Census Bureau's online address search function shows that Park Place and Merrick Road to be in the Village of Lynbrook, with a Lynbrook, NY 11563 mailing address and in the Lynbrook Union Free School District.

The house in Mineola is in Liberty Ave and Roslyn Rd. I actually like the one in Mineola very much. The fact that it has much lower taxes in comparison to the Lynbrook one doesn't harm at all! But what I miss in Mineola are the green areas, parks or bike paths etc. Are there any?? By the way, would a house in Lynbrook with SD #24 or #14 would be recommendable at all? thanks!

I don't know much about Mineola, except for the business district, so I cannot point you to the parks, etc.

If you like the house there and the taxes are lower, it might be the right one for you.

There are so few homes in Lynbrook in SD #14 (Hewlett), that I really don't consider it one that serves Lynbrook for the most part. #14 is a very good school district. However, I have noticed that the taxes are significantly higher than homes in the other SDs that serve Lynbrook and there are some homes in Valley Stream that go to #14 and their taxes are much higher than those in the VS districts too. The other SDs that serve Lynbrook are as follows, in my order of preference:

Lynbrook SD #20
Valley Stream SD #24
Malverne SD #12
East Rockaway (can't remember the number)

I was just offering another choice. Rockville Centre might be another good place to check out.

As for the SD's here(Onondaga County), they're all pretty good, with the exception of some of the Syracuse City schools. Westhill, Jamesville-DeWitt, Fayetteville-Manlius, Skaneateles, Marcellus, West Genesee, Baldwinsville, Tully and Liverpool are the ones that have the best reputations.

I love Lynbrook! I was going to buy my apartment there instead of where I am now but I didn't like the apartment itself...loved the neighbourhood though. Quick commute to NYC too!

I think you can do better than Malverne, for the money. East Rockaway has surprisingly low scores for reasons I don't know. It's a very small district, about 100 kids per grade.

If it is on the corner of Liberty and Roslyn, just make sure you can take the traffic on Roslyn. Its a busy road.

Parks in Mineola...Wilson Park on Westbury Ave between Roslyn and Glen Cove Road. Pool is also in that area. Bike paths.. not really that I can think of , but some people will drive with bikes on their car to go to Eisenhauer Park in Westbury 2 towns over.
