Whole Foods in Lake Grove!?
Does anyone know if Whole Foods will open at this location at some point? The store seems ready, but the website says spring 2010. I think they better lower their prices on some basic items, or their investment won't pay off. The fact that they carry conventional fruits/veggies at what seems, regular prices, is in my opinion a clever marketing trick. You visually remember the label with a price of $2.49/lb, so it makes you come back. The real organic foods cost much much more I wonder how badly it will affect Trader Joe's revenue...

I didn't even know they were supoosed to build a Whole Foods in Lake Grove. I love Trader Joe's and wish there were more of them on Eastern Long Island. I only go there once in a while because it is a half an hour away and I have a Stop and Shop around the corner.

Is that going to be where the old Stop and Shop was?

Thanks.
To tell you the truth they should have opened up a Krispy Kreme next to LA Fitness.

I honestly don't know how that LA Fitness stays in business. I rarely see that parking lot full. I see more people going into the gym that is by Houlihans, where the old RockBottom used to be.

The Spring 2010 date is accurate. I know someone who works in the Jericho store and will be transferring to the Lake Grove one because it's much closer to her home. She was hoping to avoid the winter-weather travelling by having a pre-Xmas opening but the company says No way.

I am not mr. organic or anything like that but I think Trader Joes is a great store and I doubt that Whole Foods will affect them too much. I find Trader Joes relatively reasonable even when you consider the size and type of the foods you are buying. I have never been to a Whole Foods but I have seen it referred to as Whole Paycheck as a joke because it tends to be more expensive than Trader Joes and the traditional supermarkets.
