Default Apartment complexes near Mineola towards east

We need to rent a 2 bedroom apartment starting mid Sep near Mineola. I have been doing a fair amount of research on the apartment complexes in the vicinity of Mineola (no more than 15 mins drive from Mineola towards east), and the following are what I found:

1. Fairhaven at Hicksville, Mineola, Carle Place, Woodbury (too small or too pricey for us or not available at the moment)
2. Archstone (too pricey)
3. Westwood (ok)

Other than these, are you aware of any other such complexes? Our budget is about $2k/mo. I am averse to paying realtor fee.

I don't think you're likely to find any 2-bedroom traditional (garden apartment/apartment complex) apartments for $2K/month or less in any area of central Nassau that you'd feel safe living in.

As you've already noticed, the majority of apartment rentals on LI are not of the traditional type, mainly because of zoning and lack of available space.

If you could manage a commute from Melville there are a couple of complexes there, near Route 110. One is Avalon, my nephew used to live there. It's comparable to Archstone (probably the prices are as well, though).

You are right -- I am finding it very hard to find an apartment complex in those areas. I have no problem commuting, but my wife now works in Mineola, and for some good reasons I don't want her to drive much.

Avalon is nice, but Melville may be a bit far for her. :-(

Thanks for the reply.
