Also I wanted to add LIRR service ie much better on the Babylon line versus the Main Line at Hicksville. The Babylon line is completely elevated...no grade crossings. Thus it's faster and more reliable than the main line. Also the schedules on the Babylon line are much better, frequency is less out of Hicksville (because the 2 track mainline has to share with Oyster Bay, Ronkonkoma, and Huntington/PJ trains).
Hicksville trains are definately quite crowded in rush hour.
By getting the LIRR at Massapequa, Seaford, Wantagh, or Bellmore, etc you are getting a better quality service. The LIRR has many rush hour trains that only stop at Merrick-Massapequa PK.

Living in North Bellmore - North Merrick , you could get down to the trains very quickly by car . Some parts could be as short as a 10 - 15 minute walk to train . Both have very good school districts and a full of hard working families . You would love both of these n'hoods . Wantagh is also a very good choice IMO .... Good luck

Nope, you're wrong, the Babylon line is completely grade-crossing free. You're thinking of the single track diesel spur between Bethpage and Babylon that runs through Lindenhurst, which many Montauk trains use.

More crime in Massapequa than Hicksville???!? You have got to be smoking something illegal.
If a cat gets stuck in a tree in the pequa's, you will probably hear about it.
Sorry if I seem to be bashing hicksville, but the OP made the comparison. You're best way to find out is start at the epicenter of hicksville near RR and work your way out. It feels like hempstead or little beirut to be quite frank.
Do the same in Massapequa or Massapequa park and it is night and day compared to hicksville.
Also another poster on page 2 must be smoking the same thing as this poster.. "full of Minorities in the pequas"?? Its 96% white. Beware of people trying to mislead you and possibly affecting decisions that could cost you drastically.
