The Catholic bashing on here is almost hilarious. Imagine if folks on here spewed such things about the Jewish faith or other religions? Unbelievable.
Let's assume someone on here began writing about the Federal Sting in NJ and all the Rabbis involved. Then they started saying that all Rabbis were crooks that laundered money.
That's the same type of small minded BS that this thread has evolved into.

First, to characterize my points as "bashing" is weak argument. Look at my specific statements and tell me which ones are wrong.
Second, the comparison with the NJ sting is a bad analogy. A few rabbis scamming people is very different than the leader of a billion people helping cover and shift around pedophiles systematically. That's a big difference.
I didn't say that the church would fail. ****, there are still druids around. My point was to say that they have made mistakes, and I named three. And lets face it, young caucasians with money are fleeing from the Catholic church in droves. They are importing priests from Africa and India - certainly not the sign of a healthy operation.
Then, they've created their cottage industry of martyrs and vision-seeers. Padre Pio runs around grubbing for cash showing people catsup on his hands, claiming he loves Christ so much his hands bleed. Oh, brother. You've got EWTN's Mother Angelica with her pirate eye patch grousing about nuns not wearing habits - because THAT has caused the church's problems. Oh brother.
But the whole rejection of liberation theology has been inexcusable to me. And to elevate the theological director of that movement to the papacy is a disgrace. Benedict is a jag! Do what you want with the church. Think what you want. But I won't give another dime to it. And if feeding low-caste Indian women just enough to keep them from dying (e.g., Mother Theresa) is evidence of "all of the good Catholics do," then you and I disagree on what "good" is.
