I don't think of the nice parts of Massapequa as wealthy, I think of them as slightly upper-middle class. The other parts are working class to middle class.

You're not wrong, however, in that some parts are nicer than others. Some homes in Massapequa are in the low $300's and some are in the $600's. Still not wealthy on my radar.

note that I said borderline wealthy. Also note that there are homes in Massapequa that fetch north of one million and carry an annual tax bill of 25k. IMO, being able to afford that requires some degree of wealth.

You have many homes in Massapequa that will fetch well over $600,000. Currently 20 out of the 202 homes for sale on MLSLI in the Massapequa school district are listed at over $1,000,000.

You couldn't go anywhere in Massapequa without bumping into Brian Setzer.

I used to hang out with 'Stuttering' John Melendez - whose childhood house backed up the Daniel Road Devil House. We never could have imagined he would wind up working for Leno!

Dee Snyder lives in a gated community on 347 between Belle Meade and BJ's. Circular driveway, house with a porch. Cool staging on Halloween.

Definitely East Setauket. No 'ish' needed.

A lot of Union guys, Contractors, Cops, LIRR, some Salesmen but mostly blue colllar stuff.
Awesome people though, its a great working class neighborhood, good schools, everyone gets along, Bbqs etc.

Its super friendly, maybe a tad heavy on the Badabing and Fucco for my tastes but otherwise a great "All American" kind of town

If I had to do South Nassau it would probably be on my short list.

Crooks,

Friends in Massapequa 'moved on up' to Bar Harbor area and had a house on the water. The dad was a Wall St guy who ended up in some $$$ position. Believe me, there are plenty of degrees in the area. A gf and her husband out here in Poquott were both raised in Massapequa; their fathers were NYC doctors, they are both college educated -- med degree and MBA.

Believe it or not, people with college degrees do live in Massapequa

BUT

The big thing I am finding here is that people are confusing upscale with million dollar house. Bridgehampton is upscale. Massapequa is not.

I dont doubt it at all.

Their little area is very Blue Collar ...and its really awesome.
(A stones throw from the All American burger too )

Bridgehamton isnt the best example since its really second homes for the mega rich.

Poquott is Upscale
Massapequa is not.

Besides were way OT.

Which area has the more expensive homes: the southern part of the Hamlet of Massapequa or the southern part of the Hamlet of East Massapequa?

Depends on the area. The most expensive homes are in a section called Old Harbor Green, which is on the extreme SE portion of the hamlet of Massapequa (Club Drive, Bay drive, Riviera Dr S, etc).

After that is is pretty close between the Biltmore shores section (which is in the Hamlet of Massapequa and right next to Old Harbor Green) and the Nassau Shores section (Hamlet of East Massapequa, in the Massapequa school district).

Then you have the rest of the southern portion of the Hamlet of Massapequa, which has a fairly large amount of expensive homes, but not as many as the sections mentioned above. The least expensive homes in the southern portion of the two hamlets are the areas of East Massapequa within the Amitville school district. You will have some million dollar + homes in this area, but not nearly as many as you will see in the southern portions of the hamlet of Massapequa or the southern portions of the hamlet of East Massapequa within the Massapequa school district (Nassau Shores)

i remeber sneaking into john's yard once to get a better glimpse of the devil worshipin house in 91, just started listening to stern so I didnt really know he lived there.

dee used to live next door to my best friend, Joe in pequa (the guy who lived me for a while and I couldnt get him evicted for a while). when I met dee at a bar with joe, it was like reuniting old friends. I rememebr when dee owned the gym next to the high school. he sold it after he struck it rich with his group. dee used to live down the road from st rose.
