I almost caused an accident last week because I was so nervous about the possibility of a red light camera. I think they're going to cause a lot more accidents.

nassau county doesn't care about that... just make sure if you ran the red light that you pay up... that's all big brother cares about.

theoretically you're safe if you're already past the line when it turns yellow then red... safe from the ticket that is... as someone mentioned it only takes pics when you cross the white line after red. That's also why you may see flashes when nobody ran the red... it's because they're probably just sitting on top of the line.

Up in Island Park I see the flashes when the light is green...

So do I - in fact I've seen the cameras in North Wantagh (N. Jerusalem Ave & Wantagh Ave) going off when there aren't even any cars at the intersection!

Nassau rips out red-light cameras in Massapequa Park

It looks like the overlapping village boundaries were too confusing for the Nassau County camera people...
Looks like they took them out because the Village of Massapequa Park would have received the ticked money instead of Nassau County.

This proves that they are far more interested in ticket money than public safety.

They really need some sort of camera or traffic enforcement on the stretch of Stewart Avenue between Cherry Valley Rd. and Covert Ave. It's a 30 mile an hour zone and people routinely go 50-60.
