Young Professionals on Long Island
I used to live in Jacksonville, FL and was a member of a local Young Professional group. IMPACTJax >> Home
I'm looking for a similar group on Long Island (not NYC, as I would not be able to attend weekday events). I have found a few groups online, but with very little information and few events. I am looking for a group with professional, social, and volunteer opportunities.
Does anyone have any information about such groups? Otherwise, does anyone have information about how to start a group? I've done some research, but wouldn't be able to start one myself. Also, I'm thinking slightly different from the meetup groups.
Thanks!

from what I know, there aren't any...try manhattan. Most LI people (at least the ones I know) are not white-collar, suit "professionals" that you are probably speaking of. Not that it's a bad gig, but literally every guy I know does construction or is a cop.

I don't know if you are jewish or even need to be to join this group, but J-corps is a jewish volunteering group based out of manhattan. I have never been to any of their events (b/c I'm not gonna lie, the economy is too crappy to not get paid for my services) but they do things like "beautifying park" (aka picking up trash), nursing homes, reading to kids etc. etc. I'm not saying it's bad...volunteering just isn't my thing. But a friend of mine loves it (and you get a cool t-shirt to wear!, lol).

I believe there is a group on Facebook for the Garden City area.
