Suffolk Community College, College Success Program?
Hi~
I'm new to here, but I have a question and this seemed like the best place to ask it.
At Suffolk Community College, they have a program called College Success. You are asked to join if you are in two or more development classes and are told it is a wonderful program that is happy to help.
Now, my question is, has anyone truly succeeded while in College Success? Or am I right to think that it does not help at all, but they need people to join so they make it sound wonderful.
So, has anyone out there done better while in College Success or not?
Thankies~ =3

I can offer this much to you. Regardless of what college has what type of program that states you will succeed with it, it all comes down to this.
What you put into college is what you will get out of it. Remember, the college is not guaranteeing you a job when you graduate. It is up to you to get the job and you have to do the leg work.
Best of luck to you.

I was offered this in my Fall 06 semester but I dident accept it - many freshman are in 2 or more developmental classes, don't sweat it.
BTW: if you go to Grant/Brentwood ... do NOT take Developmental Writing with Professor McGorry. She's a bit on the weird side and she makes things much harder then they have to be.

Any program is going to get you as much as you put in. Nevertheless, standard classes are likely not to offer the resources that these sorts or programs provide.
I don't know about this program specifically, but I'm willing to bet that it is going to provide hands on tutoring on matters of learning - not just subject oriented instruction, but stuff of the how-to-learn variety. Time management, schedule management, reading, note-taking, college-level writing proficiency, and that sort of thing. I would say that most people in college would benefit from such a program.
It will probably also set up study tables, something similar to what athletes receive at colleges and universities. I'd say to anyone, put your ego aside and try the program.

Suffolk is a solid school. After all, I went there. If they think you might need the program than it might be in your best interest. However, if you need a development program at a community college than I would ask yourself if this is the right place for you?
I might get railed for this, but contrary to popular belief ....College is not for everyone. Your skill set might lie in an area that a community college can do little to help. However, if you feel this is the route you want to go then put effort into the program and you'll likely get something out of it.
